We recently presented at Goodwin University’s ECAMP program. ECAMP stands for Early College Advanced Manufacturing Program. Scott Livingston, HORST Engineering’s president, was joined by Laura-Lee Walker from the company’s Sales & Customer Service Team. The two shared an overview of HORST Engineering and gave their perspective on how the Goodwin students could better prepare for full-time work.
Featuring a dual enrollment, early college half day program for high school seniors, these students from Greater Hartford area high schools are enrolled in a special manufacturing program which allows them to come to pre-college classes at Goodwin University. They have an option of attending either a morning or afternoon cohort and take advantage of the more than $10 million that has been invested in the advanced manufacturing facilities.
Scott said, “It was really enjoyable talking with these students to get them excited about the field of manufacturing!” The rigorous 21-credit curriculum prepares scholars for success in the manufacturing industry by providing them with immediately applicable, on-the-job knowledge and skills, including blueprint reading, manufacturing math, metrology, CNC machining, and many others. ECAMP scholars gain in-demand skills that can lead to high-paying, rewarding careers.
