One of the more visible examples of Horst Engineering’s commitment to the environment is the 39kW solar power electric photovoltaic system located on the roof of our 41 Cedar Street plant. The system went live in January 2009 as the 41 Cedar Street plant was coming on line. We generated 41,600 kWh, which represented more than 50% of the building’s electricity requirements in 2009
In 2010, the plant was fully operational, so our electricity demands increased. Fortunately, 2010 had more sunny days. We generated 46,400 kWh, which represented more than 45% of the building’s electricity requirements in 2010. We invite you to learn more about our system and our commitment to the environment. At our Community & Environment webpage, you can also view the live monitoring system. Check back when it is sunny…and when there isn’t a foot of snow on the roof.
