On Wednesday, the National Association of Manufacturers hosted their Executive Insights series in Hartford at the Connecticut Science Center. We are longtime NAM members. We heard from a panel of Connecticut industry leaders, including the heads of United Technologies Corporation, Barnes Group, and Stanley Black & Decker.
The hot topic was workforce development. This group of industry leaders shared some of the steps that their organizations are taking to build the workforce of the future. It was clear that more education needs to be done at every level. More children and adults need to hear that advanced manufacturing is an awesome career path. The science center was the perfect place to talk about the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
Also participating was the Connecticut Business & Industry Association, of which we are also a longtime member. We also belong to the Associated Industries of Massachusetts. Both CBIA and AIM are NAM State Association Groups.
Joe Brennan, CBIA’s leader challenged the attendees to get out the vote and participate in the upcoming elections. Business issues are at the forefront and the strength of the USA economy depends on commerce.
The CBIA has some great resources regarding the upcoming elections. Check out their Election Center.
